He highlights the critical fact that it’s not just one technology but many converging technologies that will transform our future. He focuses on two of the most relevant; AI and Synthetic Biology, while also offering comments on Quantum techs.
His main message is clear: AI is practically impossible to contain, requiring a systemic and coordinated effort to mitigate its imminent risks.
Unfortunately the author has demonstrated deep and unique competencies in the field, yet after writing this provocative book, he chose to become the head of AI at one of the Big Tech companies; a decision that feels contradictory given the urgency of his warnings and call for ethics as he works on this technology in a mainly commercial direction now.
