I had previously read sections of "Superintelligence" by Nick Bostrom, where he examines AGI+ (an intelligence greater than any human being in all areas of knowledge) through a philosophical lens; in this summer 2024, I had the opportunity to read it from cover to cover: in a time captivated by the rapid advancements in AI, driven by new models making their way into the market with stratospheric investments and market valuations, making it hard to follow and grasp the implications for the future is extremely challenging. Bostrom's text, published a decade ago in 2014, though a hard read, it retains its relevance.
